@stickmandiaries Cyan is the complimentary color to red. The magentas and purples lean red. So they are almost compliments, but not quite and that helps create visual tension. {All those hours studying color theory come in handy at times!}
@Bruce Wow, that’s fascinating! I know nothing of the science behind such things – purples, jades & turquoises are just colours I like. Intriguing; I think I might have to look into this more. @stickmandiaries

@stickmandiaries@vanessa Also, it’s shocking how much our brain does to create our perception of color. If you know what you’re doing, you can make simple white light look like any color of the rainbow. 💡

@vanessa @stickmandiaries Picture This: How Pictures Work by Molly Bang is a great primer on visual storytelling. She starts with very simple shapes and builds an entire world out of them. It’s revelatory read. 📚
